My Thoughts: The Maze Runner

Author: James Dashner.

You know me, the sucker for dystopian fiction. That having been restated, I suppose I don’t have to tell you that I loved this book. Oh wait, I just did.

Of course, there is nothing new about the whole “stuck inside a microcosm, can’t get out” kind of theme. Been there, read that: the Divergent trilogy, the Gone series, the The Hunger Games trilogy, and the list goes on. But what I liked about this one was the slight twist of all-boys. Of course, then a girl showed up, which I totally predicted, and then I was all worried, because despite my love for fairytales and all that idealist stuff, I’m not a fan of baseless romance.

But guess what! I got none of that! The book is actually great, and I do like the whole idea behind the series so far. I feel, of course, that I’ve only skimmed the tip of the iceberg with this series, since I’ve only read the first book, but at least I’m compelled to continue.

I love the cliffhanger. Nobody’s as good at those as Rick Riordan, but hey, it was a’aight. I can’t really say much now, but I’ll give you more thoughts after I’m deeper in the series. I am now, however, an official James Dashner fan.

Read on, yo!
