My summer is coming to an end. I might as well blog about its highlights now, since I go to school on Saturday. The first one I’m blogging about is Chalewote 2014, which I attended on 23rd August. Chalewote is a Ghanaian street art festival, and it was my first time attending, since:
1. This year was the first I’ve heard of it (thanks, Owiredua), and
2. I didn’t have to be in school at the time of the event.
So! Pictures and captions. Let’s go!
Some of the beads, bookmarks, decorations and ornaments being soldA beads and bracelets saleLittle pendants for chains and bracelets etc, in Adinkra symbols and shapes. And they look so…ancient. LOLThis represented the first stage of man: birth. Upon entering beyond the dark curtain……You would see a scene that represents death. There’s an old woman buried with belongings, as is tradition……And finally, transition, into whatever life there is after death.“Do you have an immortal soul?”As an introduction to the life, death, transition exhibit, there were all these messages about life, death and dreams…#EbolaWatch… I mean ‘abora.’Abstract, attractive. My bestie, Naana, with the famous poet/ literary artist, Nana Asaase. Then there was Wanlov the Kubolor running around (actually, riding around) in his underwear.

Today’s my mother’s birthday, whoo! I won’t tell you how old she is, and I won’t post any long things either. She’s gotten a lot of that in the birthday card I gave her. 😀
You know I like writing…It’s practically an essay in here.
So, it recently occurred to me that “Hey, maybe I should post my drawings on my blog!” So yeah, that’s what I’m going to do, and hopefully, it will encourage me to draw more and stop sleeping on my art. 😦
You see, I’ve always believed in personally made gifts, because I feel like they mean more than just words and graphics that someone has already printed. When you make a gift/card yourself, you’re not only spending your money on someone you love — you’re using your own time and ability as well. Or I don’t know, maybe it’s because I don’t have a life. Maybe when I begin college or working, I won’t have time for these things. But I really hope I do, and that I never lose interest.
So, I drew my mother… Here are some progressive shots.
Sorry, I didn’t take any from the VERY beginning…
As you can see, up close, it’s very…unblended.Late night half-selfie with the drawing.Guilty of filter application.Oh look, it’s a giant card!
Anyway, more pages of my sketchbook from now on.
Also, Ghana Black Stars better win today’s match, before my mom comes and kills them.
Man, you don’t need a Nikon to take photographs. All I have is a camera phone. (And an editing app.)
An earthworm, being all wriggly! I'm still amazed as to how this creature survives without sight or an anus. Water droplets on a leafFrom my balcony: look at the trees blowing in the wind! But you can't see the rain.
